Jaco van Gass is a GB Paracyclist racing on the road and track at world class level, through fundraising and our sponsors, we've been supporting Jaco in every way that we can to ensure he has the best chance of reaching Rio 2016.
As our charity objectives include supporting those with disabilities and promoting healthy recreation through sport. We have recently been introduced to an aspiring wheelchair racer, Tom Miller. Tom suffers with Cerebral Palsy, affecting all four limbs. The 2012 Olympics really inspired Tom to start up wheelchair racing, his Mum and Dad purchased him a second hand wheelchair for him to try and from there he started training. Since then, he has really progressed in Wheelchair Racing, training numerous times a week. He has now been officially classified as a T34. He is now competing in many events and regularly is improving his PB.
We’re hoping to raise enough funds to support Tom with his dream of becoming a Paralympian in future Olympics and give him the very best chance of achieving this, in the same way that we have with Jaco. Last week, we visited the Manchester Velodrome where Jaco is based, to introduce Tom and for them both to share each others stories and discuss their sports, the physical work that they put in and how they mentally prepare for races.
Keep an eye out on our Twitter for further news on Tom and Jaco’s progress. If you’re interested in supporting us with our fundraising then please get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org or make a donation via Virgin Money Giving.
