FORGET ME NOT
"All you need is faith, trust and a little bit of pixie dust"
In July 2015, Jessica aged 12 was one of 24 students and three staff from Wolfreton School in Willerby that were on a five-day trip to the Club Correze adventure centre near Meymac.
Whilst away on the school trip, on 21st July 2015, it is believed that Jess became trapped under an overturned pontoon, which she and a group of children were jumping from while swimming.
On 22nd July 2015, Jessica sadly passed away. Jessica's parents had no support and struggled to cope with day to day life, their world was shattered into pieces.
The Jessica Lawson Foundation is to help other families that face trauma and need immediate help. They aim to improve bereavement support services and ensure that no other families are left alone.
To offer support to families who suffer a sudden and unexpected loss of a child.
To listen and help coordinate practical support to the family during those early, very dark weeks
To work closely with other Charities who are experienced in trauma, including access to specialist PTSD assessments and Counselling.
TO SHARE OUR OWN KNOWLEDGE WITH OTHER PARENTS TO EASE THEIR PAIN AND CONFUSION.
TO INFLUENCE GOVERNMENT POLICY TO IMPROVE TEACHER TRAINING AND UNDERSTANDING OF SCHOOL TRIP RISK ASSESSMENTS AND DUTY OF CARE.
TO IMPROVE WATER SAFETY AWARENESS AND SIGNAGE AROUND ANY PUBLIC OPEN WATER POTENTIAL RISK AREA.
